Family Bi-Laws
I.) Any and all decisions are made by the Family Committee. – This is the number one rule above any and everything where all things begin and end: –
- The committee is comprised of up to no more than fifteen representatives. A representative is one that is the point of contact and is the spokesperson or voice of and for there family, and only counts as one vote. They do not make the decision for them they just act as the voice for that body. There are two ways that a representative is selected: (1) one person is chosen by each family of the twelve sons and daughters of Issac Buie Sr. and Edith Madison. (2) One person from the extended family of the Buie side and the Madison side is selected by the twelve representatives of Issac Buie Sr. and Edith Madison’s sons and daughters. The decision of the committee is determined by a voting system. When an item is up for discussion, then each representative will go to the rest of their family well informed of the item and report back to the committee with the single vote for their family. Since the number of representatives on the committee is an odd number, then there won’t be a tie and the majority will win.
II.) Time of Reunion –
- The Buie-Madison family reunion will be held every other year on the fourth of July in Gilbert, LA. at the Buie-Madison Estate.
*****Please make a note that this is not a compromise.*****
- The reunion will always be held on the weekend that is closest to the actual 4th of July with the main day of the reunion being on Saturday. So no matter if July the 4th actually falls on Monday - Friday, or Sunday, we will have the main day of celebration (activities and food) on Saturday. The reunion will begin on Friday and end on Sunday. Any and all are welcome to stay a few days before and after. But the reunion funds will not be accessible to cover any expenses that may come about during that period.
- If a member of the family wants to have a family gather somewhere else, then that is encouraged to take place during the rotating year opposite of the Family Reunion.
Example: Family Reunion, July 4, 2008 – Buie-Madison Estate, Gilbert, LA.
Family gather, Summer of 2009 – Where ever
Family Reunion, July 4, 2010 – Buie-Madison Estate, Gilbert, LA.
Family gather, Summer of 2011 – Where ever
Etc………….
*****Please make a note that the family gathering will not be handled by the family committee. That will fall on the responsibility of who ever has the idea. Also, the Family Reunion funds will not be accessible to this family gathering. Again, that falls on the responsibility of who ever wants to participate. *****
III.) Reunion Dues –
- The amount of dues is decided by the committee which is a result of the prior and future reunion’s budget. Which means the reunion dues may change from time to time. But even if they do, it will never be anything drastic either way.
- As of now each adult, (eighteen years of age and up), will be required to pay one hundred and twenty five dollars a reunion. That is blood family and family by marriage included. (EACH)
- For the extended family, (the descendants of the siblings of Issac Buie Sr. and Edith Madison), there is only a fifty dollar reunion fee for the first reunion that is attended. Every reunion after that, an extra twenty five dollars will be added to the total fee until that amount has been made equal to the reunion fee that the immediate family, (the descendants of Issac Buie Sr. and Edith Madison) pay.
*****Please note that these laws were drafted with the family as a whole in mind, not one person. That means, this will not be able to please everyone individually, but looking at this from a mature point of view, this is best for all. *****
